It’s virtually impossible to rank the top man movie of 1980 but with the criteria of action and masculinity we’re left with no choice but to give the title to the George Lucas hit The Empire Strikes Back.

In a revenge plot for almost destroying the Death Star, Darth Vader kidnaps Luke Skywalker’s friends while Luke is in Jedi training with Yoda and it’s left to Luke to save the day; albeit the movie has amazing special effects and kick ass weaponry.

It makes our list not based on the violence or action but, because of the films twisted surprises and the element of psychosis. It doesn’t hurt that every woman we’ve ever met also loves The Shining.

Brought to us by Stanley Kubrick whom also and directed Clockwork Orange and Spartacus.
