Odell Beckham Jr. Inks Record Shoe Deal With Nike

USA Today and Nicekicks.com are reporting New York Giants Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (nicknamed OBJ) just signed the largest shoe contract in NFL history.

Laced with incentives Beckham’s contract is reportedly worth $29 million over 5 years, per NiceKicks. If performance incentives are reached that could add another $1 million a year to the deal.

The deal also gives Beckham other branding options that could see Nike dole out as much as $48 million over an 8-year span overshadowing his current New York Giants rookie contract which will pay the eccentric wide receiver $1.839 million during the 2017 NFL season and $18 million overall.

NBC Sports analyst Dan Patrick sighted the significant difference between very lucrative NBA basketball shoe contracts versus what feels like inferior football contracts. On his radio show he stated, “Boy it’s a whole lot different in the NFL than it is in basketball; you think the richest shoe deal in NFL history and he’s gonna make only $5 million a year”. Patrick went on to say, “And the deal got bigger because Adidas wanted Beckham from Nike, nike had the rights to match the offer whit it did”.
